Academic writing–traditional academic paper with referencesThe purpose of this paper is to summarize and analyze an argument and then establish and develop your own position in relation to that argument on the issue. Engaging with the problem drawn from the assigned reading by Michelson, analyze and evaluate her argument. You will focus on the article by Lea Laura Michelsen, Thinking Beyond Biometrics http://www.aprja.net/thinking-beyond-biometrics-a-playful-dance/ And then use two or more additional texts and/or your own experience as evidence to back up YOUR argument about the issue (can be written text, video, images, experience). Try to avoid a simple agree or disagree position. Try to apply it to your own experience and your own feelings about the issue, and use the other angles from our class discussion to develop a unique position. Do not simply use Michelson’s examples to back up your own argument. Use your summary and analysis of her arguments to establish your own position on the issue. You may come at this issue from any perspective you like–we will look at various videos, images, interviews, and other readings throughout September to look at this from various angles. Again, I will remind you that you must use other sources including your own experience as evidence to support and develop your own position. You will write your paper as an academic essay, in a formal academic style, with an introduction and body paragraphs, use of quotations, and using your own evidence to back up your position. You may use personal experience as evidence to back up your argument. You will use MLA style format for this paper. Please use the following style guide for help with MLA.
