DUE TONIGHT BEFORE 11:59 President Trump recently announced that U.S. forces would withdraw completely from the conflict in Syria. This decision has been met with a great deal of criticism as it leaves the Kurds, an ethnic group that has enjoyed traditional U.S. support, at the mercy of U.S. ally Turkey. Turkey views the Kurds as a militant group that wants to claim territory in Turkey and has made no secret of wanting to push them out. The Pentagon appears to disagree with the president’s policy change here and the following article details their efforts up until now to continue to support the Kurds despite the president’s orders to the contrary.
Is the decision to pull out in the national interest? If no, what should our policy be?
