For this assignment, you will study adolescent development (Chapters 14, 15 & 16) through the experiences of one teenager that you interview.

For the assignment:

Review Chapters 14, 15 & 16 that cover adolescent development from the book

Find a teen between the ages of 14-18 to interview (if you have trouble finding a teenager, please let me know ASAP!)

Take notes from the interview and type up those notes.

Choose one of the topics listed below that connect to your interview:

Adolescent thinking: Types of thinking and cognitive development; ego-centrism; invincibility; self-absorption; formal operations and reasoning

School experience: Schooling; learning and motivation; digital experience

Sense of identity: Identity formation; developing sense of self in various areas; gender identity; ethnic identity

Emotions and feelings: Complexity and intensity of emotional experiences

Social relationships: Parent-teen relationships; peer relationships

Health and wellness: Risk factors; sexuality and sexual behavior; drug use

Then write a 3-4 page paper comparing what you heard with the developmental information in the textbook and the interview notes.

What to turn in:

ALL written work should be 12-point Times New Roman Font and Double-Spaced

Brief Description of the teen you interviewed including: Age, gender, and ethnicity (1 paragraph)

Typed notes from your interview

A 3-4 page comparison between the interview notes, research of 2-3 reliable sources related to your topic and the developmental information from the text book.(Cite your sources)

Grading:

Brief Description of the teen – (5 points)

Typed notes from your interview – (10 points)

Comparison Paper is on topic and detailed – (20 points)

Comparison Paper includes multiple references to the text and materials from the class – (15 points)

Spelling and Grammar – (5 points)
