Assignment instructions

Title: Telling the reader what this about and what it will cover.
Executive Summary:   A brief snapshot of the report covering its main objectives, business location, methodology, main findings and conclusions.
Index: Showing sections, subsections headings, numbering and appendices.
Introduction Briefly describe your topic and why you chose it. This should include a short profile of the organisation to be analysed and a very brief history of the changes that have taken place and the reasons for their introduction
Define purpose and objectives of the study. State the key purpose of the study and the central research questions. “To examine how the Y change management process at company X could have been improved: What was the change process? How did it impact on stakeholders? What could have been improved?
Literature review:   You may integrate your sources with your subsequent analysis if you wish and indicate how they support, challenge or illustrate specific relationships rather than have a stand-alone section in your report. You may explain how you have used relevant models, theories and principles drawn from key writers to ‘shape’ your study.
Methodology statement: This describes the methods you have used to do the research and why they were chosen. Describe how you approached, collected, and analysed the organisational data.
Findings What did you collect and find? Tell the story about what your participants experienced and the impact it made on them – use quotes from participants to make the story live and provide the evidence to support your assertions about the impact of the change process.
Discussion: 1 – What are the key findings from the research? Pick on the big issues and explore in relation to previous research. 2 – Compare what you have found to a ‘model ‘of change management, or existing theory – what was missing? 3 – Indicate what could have improved the change management process. 4 – Respond to your original research questions.
Conclusion Summarise what you have done. No new data here – just a review of what you have done, asserting the value of it! Describe the key outcomes of your study. Then, propose what can be learned from this study, by the organisation, by students of change management, by managers, and what have you learned from the process?
References: Laid out in accordance with the ECU referencing system.
Appendices: Include only highly relevant material of a technical nature which supports your research (i.e. tables, graphs, lists, company charters and policies).
