You are a newly graduated dental hygienist and have been hired by Dr. Jane Smith. Dr. Smith recognizes your knowledge in both dental hygiene therapy and practice administration and has asked you to design the hygiene department for the practice. She has provided the following template to assist you in planning to open the office. Given your knowledge of COVID-19, how will you design your new hygiene department?

- What additions to a traditional medical history form will you make to address COVID-19? (i.e. new questions on the form; new vital signs?)

- Given your knowledge of the transmission route of COVID-19, what instruments/equipment will you use for hygiene therapy? (for example, will you change how care was delivered in the AU dental hygiene clinic?)

- How will you ensure your treatment room is disinfected and safe for multiple patients?
- Will there be a charge to the patient for PPEs and facility sanitation/disinfection?
- Practice profit and loss
- How many hygiene patients will you treat each day?
- Has this number changed due to COVID-19 challenges?
- What expenses will the practice incur due to COVID-19 challenges?
