EMS5AEE Group Assignment 2 – Values (10% of total)
To be conducted in a team of 3-4 students
Due 22nd May at 11pm
This is a group assignment. You can use online methods of team work such as online tools such as Zoom/Instant Chat/Group Review and Group Projects. (Doesn’t need to be face-to-face). For this group assignment you have two options (you may choose):
1. Technical report
2. Develop your own escape room activity

Option 1 – Technical report: Write a 2000 word technical report which assesses the adoption and usage of one of the pillars of Industry 4.0 within the Australian engineering industry. You may choose any of the following topics:
• Advanced Robotics
• 3D Printing
• Cloud Computing
• Cyber Security
• Internet of Things
• Big Data
• RFID
Your report should include at least 5 references (not included in the word count) and detail specific examples, benefits and results this technology has brought and other solutions it could solve.

Option 2 – Escape Room Design. In the first workshop you participated in a table-top educational escape room – which helped you learn more about Australian Geography, Slang and inventions. For this assignment option you will need to create three separate puzzles which cover and teach something about topics addressed within this course.
Possible ideas for topics include:
• Safety
• Environment
• Job Applications
• Stakeholders
• Quality/Compliance
• Engineering Professionalism

Some requirements for the escape room:
• Different questions should be on different pieces of paper
• If paper should be cut (e.g. strips cut out) this should be indicated with dashed lines
• Each puzzle should result in a numerical answer from 2-8 digits in length (e.g. 12 or 32997291)
• Each puzzle should have only one correct answer
• The first page should include the solutions for each puzzle (that we can remove) and a storyline that provides context to the activity
• File submission should be in Word format

To help in crafting these puzzles we have provided the following resources:
– The week 1 escape room exercise
– A STEM based escape room exercise we use with high school students
– A pre-print digital copy of Robert’s new escape room education book
We are hoping that some of these can be shared around the class and people can (as a fun activity and to participate in a research project) test out other groups escape rooms.
