Today’s business environment is ever-changing
with managers having to deal with large
amounts of data, often ambiguous and wicked
problems with an absence of precedent on
which to base their decision-making. Facing
demands for fast, e!ective decision making,
within tight time constraints and decisions
which are of good quality make the role of the
manager a complex and demanding one.
Research suggests that demands of this type
which require extreme levels of information
processing and fast, high quality decisions free
of errors and biases may well be beyond the
capacity of many managers.
This module strives to address some of the data
handling and information processing challenges
confronting todays managers. The module deals
with the errors, biases and shortcuts managers
typically apply in their interpreting of data,
processing of information and forming
judgments on their way to making decisions. In
addition, by providing some tools, means and
processes, we can perhaps help overcome
managers’ typically error prone, biased
approaches to information processing, decision
making.
This Module will help you
