The client is a 64 year old man who has been incarcerated for first degree murder since the age of 16 years. He has no work skills, many health problems and reads/writes at a fourth grade level. He has no living relatives to assist him. What will he need to be successful in the community? Think basics, this is a man who has been locked away for 48 years, many changes have occurred, how do you help him?
I want to see originality in the way you would help this person hands-on. Please do not just refer them to services, but what will you actually do? And do not say you will find him a job, this is not basics, he needs to navigate throughout the community from ordering a coffee at a coffee stand to using public transportation. Remember, this person is actually being released to a foreign world, nothing is the same as it was 48 years ago. Using the themes below, apply them to this case and other cases like this, given this is something that is occurring today, people being released after being locked up for decades.
