You are the nurse in St. Theresa’s emergency department. A client is brought in with obvious psychiatric problems. You have no psychiatrist available and the nearest psychiatric facility is a 1-hour drive away. St. Theresa is a Tri-State Health Care Alliance Member. Tri-State has telehealth links with the regional hospital, where a psychiatrist is in the emergency department. What steps would you take to initiate a productive teleconference? Justify your response.

Erin RN, a home health nurse, is caring for Mr. R., a 65 yo with congestive heart failure, who may require hospitalization. From Mr. Richard’s home, the nurse contacts Dr. Bobby, who is located at the nearest medical center, a 2 hour drive away. There is teleconference equipment at Mr. Richards home ad there is a link to the medical center. What steps would Erin take to initiate a productive teleconference? Provide rationale.
