Part 2: Respond to a Peer
Read a post by at least one of your peers and respond, making sure to extend the conversation by asking questions, offering rich ideas, or sharing personal connections.
While I think that all strategies would be helpful, I think the strategy that has best prepared me for our introductory speech is timing the speech and being certain it meets the assignment’s guidelines. I feel that utilizing the provided outline is a significant help with this assignment. It walks you through what is required of the assignment and helps guide you through the writing process. Looking over the rubric is also a great help. It lets you know exactly what is expected in the assignment and should be used as a checklist before submitting the assignment. For this assignment, I chose to go with an elevator pitch. I chose that because I feel it will be helpful to me in my career. I work for a large company in a large office building where we have many visitors from other locations. Not everyone will be familiar with my name but they may be familiar with projects I have worked on. Many times I meet people who know my name but don’t know my face as we have never met in person. My elevator pitch is something I have wanted to work on prior to this assignment.
