ONLINE course Essay Rubric
For our online class you will be writing a number of essays in response to the texts we are reading together. This is a short formal essay—about 3-5 pages—where you develop a close reading of one or more of the texts we have read in response to the essay prompts I distribute. Please note this isn’t freewriting, and it can’t be a personal essay based on opinion and feeling. This is place to make an original or provocative claim about the texts we are studying, and then go on to work it out and back it up with evidence. LIT 327 ONLINE course Essay Assignment
Please note that 3-5 pages refers to the actual essay you wrote—any title pages, headers, bibliographies, works cited entries and the like do not count for length requirements. Also, your essay should have standard margins according to MLA style requirements (see below), and it should be created in a format that is capable of being accepted by turnitin.com.
I will be using the following rubric to assess your work. You should keep this in mind and make sure your paper delivers on all the criteria.
