KINS 208 – Final Project
Overview
Your Final Project should mimic a ‘real life’ opportunity. Create an original plan for a summer community event/facility/organization/program of your choosing. The purpose is to apply and synthesize the principles / material presented in class as they apply to creation/development/refinement/renovation of an event/facility/organization/program.
The following elements will likely be utilized by most groups and will be discussed in group sessions:

- Provide a detailed description of the event/facility/organization/program and the parent entity.
- Define the market and the audience you wish to reach. Why did you choose this group – what is unique, special, etc?
- Develop a working budget (based on current market pricing).
- Create an event schedule
- Present a SWOT analysis for the event. Be specific in stating how wants and needs are to be met.
- Discuss a strategy for pricing, tickets, concessions, and sponsorships, etc.
- Present an overview of opportunities for sponsors. Provide a list of inventory and prepare packages at different levels.
- Present promotions that will be used to create awareness and increase value of experience.
- Explain how and where advertising will take place.
- Give selling strategies.
- Explain which and how promotions will reach various segments.
- For event promotions, include the setting the promotion will be used for. You should have a promotion for several segments.
- Present a diagram of location of the event. Provide details on seating, concessions, restrooms, parking, and so on. Explain why the site was selected.
- Present the promotion, advertising & public relations strategies to be used.
- Other as needed . . .
As your event is hypothetical (at this point) many of the elements (above) will also be hypothetical (but should grounded in reality and defensible).

Evaluation
Individuals will be evaluated awarded based on presentation, group contribution, and project content and quality. Points will be awarded in the following manner:
Project content and quality:
- Application of course concepts – Did you recognize and integrate key elements of this course?
- Critical thinking & evaluation – Did you educate us (i.e., tell us something we didn’t know or hadn’t thought of)?
- Identify elements of the Group Project Overview as a subsection of the assignment. Designate either in boldface type or on a separately titled page.
- Quality of research – Does primary and/or secondary research directly support your conclusions and/or recommendations?
- Original fan research is required to receive an “A” on the content portion of the project. You should measure fans’ perceptions of some key aspects of the promotion strategy that you believe are critical to success.
