Term Project
Please submit your typed report in pdf format. You must also submit a valuation spreadsheet.
You must work in groups of 2 students. You only need to hand in one copy of the project.
For this project, your group will create a research report on the company of your choice. It must be a company that is listed in either Canada or the United States, and the company must have been public for at least 5 years. You cannot choose Disney, and two groups cannot do the same company. Please email me when you choose a company, first come first serve.

Your report will follow the format below. Page counts are suggestions, you may find it necessary to make some sections longer than suggested. Also, page counts refer to written content. Charts and graphs do not count towards the page count, and should be used extensively to support your investment thesis and improve the presentation of your report.

Business Description (0.5 pages). This section outlines the history of the company and the nature of their business. 5 marks
Industry Overview and Competitive Positioning (2 pages). This section describes the industry, how competitive it is, whether barriers to entry exist, and compares the subject company to competitor firms using appropriate metrics (market share, ratios, size etc.). 15 marks
Company Analysis (2 pages). This section examines the company in more detail, including its customers and suppliers, and the regulatory and economic environment in which it operates. 20 marks
Valuation and Financial Analysis (1 page written summary). For the valuation and financial analysis, you are required to do a detailed DCF spreadsheet model, to be attached separately. You will summarize your main assumptions and findings in this section, including a sensitivity analysis. 20 marks
Investment Risks (1 page). This section details possible risks to your investment outlook, which could be political or economic factors, or more specific company factors. 10 marks
Overall presentation and writing: 10 marks Total: 80 marks
