1) Archival Repository Report
Identify a specific type of archival repository. E.g., academic, government, corporate, non-profit, museum, religious, art, music, architectural, historical society, community archive, oral history archive, presidential library, etc.
Provide a brief summary for the following information about this type of repository:
Historical development of such repositories
Typical missions and programs
Holdings (What types of records do these repositories typically have?)
Services (What types of services do these repositories typically offer, if any?)
Users (Who are their users?)
Opportunities and challenges
Other discoveries that interest/surprise/bother you
Cite one specific example of a repository that falls under this category and describe the repository using the above criteria. You may consult the course readings and other materials for ideas, as well as local and non-local repositories. For a list of local repositories, see Assignment Resources.
Address major themes of the class within the context of your report, considering:
How and why materials held by these types of repositories are produced, and how they are acquired, preserved, and made accessible to users.
Politics of identity and representation as they affect these types of repositories and the materials they maintain, such as gender, race, sexuality, ethnicity, class, religion, nationality, ability, and/or age.
Organize your report into topical sections with an introduction and conclusion.
