FIN 332 Investments Assignment The assignment is to submit a 3-5 page paper*, discussing how each of the instruments
below performed from 9/1/20 through 11/24/20 and why.
Each paper will cover several “required” investments (see below) and each student will be
able to choose two publicly traded common stocks. Beginning values for the required
investments are listed below and represent closing prices on September 1, 2020. For
optional choices, please use closing prices on Tuesday 9/1/2020 as the starting point.
The paper should discuss absolute performance (e.g., up X%, down X% or unchanged) and
include comparisons with indices where appropriate and with comparable and/or other
benchmark instruments. As an example, you might choose to compare the performance of a
particular stock with the S&P 500 and perhaps another company in the same industry. The
comparisons should not only discuss differences or similarities in performance, but most
importantly, why performance differed or was the same.

For individual equities, please also discuss risk in the context of company betas including
what the beta indicates regarding the general riskiness of the stock.
Papers must be double-spaced and typed using a 12-point font.
Be sure to include your information sources such as Yahoo Finance, Google Finance,
