BIO203 Scientific Literacy Assignment You are required to write and submit a Scientific Literacy piece for Lab 4 (Transpiration
Lab). This submission will not be a full lab report in that there will be no abstract, or
methods sections. Instead the emphasis is on key elements of the scientific method and
scientific communication including, hypothesis generation; data organization, data
presentation and interpretation; critical thinking and appraising the limitations of a
methodology. The format and general instructions for writing this piece are given in the
“BIO203 Scientific Literacy Piece: The Do’s And Don’ts” document (NOTE: while similar to
other versions of the Do’s and Don’ts that you may have used for other courses, this version
has been modified to be specific to BIO203). Additional instructions and mark breakdown

DOUBLE SPACE all sections (unless otherwise noted in the “Do’s & Don’ts) using TIMES NEW
ROMAN, 12 PT FONT with 1-INCH MARGINS on all sides. ALL page limits are based on the
given formatting parameters. NOTE: A “page” = 1 single-sided page; “2 pages” = 2 single-
sided pages OR 1 double-sided page; etc. You will be penalized for exceeding the
maximum page limits for each section and if you fail to adhere to the formatting
