ENGL 1301 Final Exam Directions. Read all of the instructions before you get started. Objective: Write a four-paragraph Narrative essay (an introduction, two body paragraphs,
and a conclusion). It should be approximately 400 – 500 words. Keep each paragraph to at
least 7 – 8 sentences.
Introduction. The first paragraph should be the introduction that engages the reader’s interest (hook
and lead-in sentences) and presents the thesis sentence. A thesis statement should be in a
complete sentence that clearly states the essay’s topic. Make it the last sentence of the
introductory paragraph.

Body Paragraphs. Each body paragraph should include a topic sentence (as the first sentence),
“transitional” words to connect ideas, and a concluding sentence (as the last sentence). Use
relevant and specific details to support the thesis.
Concluding Paragraph. The last paragraph should be a comprehensive conclusion that restates the
thesis or summarizes your main points and has a final thought.
Choose one of the following topics:

Prewrite: Prewrite to generate ideas.

complete the outline.
Key (type) the first draft. Key the first draft following the outline.
1. Use Times New Roman, 12-point font.
2. Set line-space selector to 2.0, DS.
3. Remove the extra space between paragraphs.
4. Insert a page number on the upper right corner with your last name.
5. The heading should include: Your Name, Professor Elsa Gonzalez, Course, and Date
6. Include a short, creative title.

Revise and Edit. Revise and edit your keyed draft. Check for coherence, unity, support and
sentence structure.
Upload through Canvas before the deadline. Do not email it. Late submissions will NOT
be accepted.
