legitimate sources to help you make your argument — with at least one citation of evidence in
every body paragraph. When you cite a quote or when you paraphrase, be sure to cite your
source. A lack of citations is a form of plagiarism. (And plagiarism leads to an immediate grade
of zero.)
Be sure to understand what you’re citing and why you’re citing it. You’ll need all of the following:
• Definitions: to provide clarity
• Evidence: studies and/or experiments: to help make your argument
• Anecdotes or examples: to help humanize your point (i.e. complement your evidence)
REQUIREMENTS:

• In addition to the Berger book, you’ll need to use at least two other legitimate
sources (we will discuss in class what this means). Though you will only need to
use a minimum of two sources outside the book, you should find many sources,
at least 10 or 15: that way you’ll be able to select the best options for your essay.
• You will need to cite your sources using MLA format (you will receive resources
to help you with that).
• Whatever strategy you’re discussing, you will focus on using RELEVANT
evidence (studies, experiments and the like). Use anecdotes sparingly: to help
you illustrate a strategy, not just to fill up space.
• Word count: between 850 and 1,000 words.
