The companies facing tricky problem of the mechanism of doors in Aviation and head of department Mark has stated that this problem can be solved by only Jack is an employee of company. But as per question if Jack is not able to find any solution for the above problem what is Mark going to do? It is very clear that the company is expecting some solution from its employees because the whole question is about simple techniques and mechanism which has to be understood by some specialist in the company. If Jack is not able to find any solution it is noun the duty of the head of the department to understand the importance of the time and to make sure that the resources of the company are expanded. This means this problem has to be given to the people who specialize in the above issue some suggestions has to be taken from the people who are not from the company and Proper review of the process has to be done by the professionals. Hiring a professional to solve this kind of problem will make sure that the problem can be solved so that the company would not face any loss (Eaton, 2001).

After studying the case study we understood that company has a challenge of door mechanism in commercial aviation which has to be solved so that the company can acquire the profits which are meant to bring a lot of sales and success. Here Mark as the Department Head has to understand that if the work is not done by Jack it is important to make sure that the company has backup plans to acquire the estimated solutions. Always having a backup plan is a mandatory option and a smart choice, in this case, the backup plan would be giving the challenge to the specialized agency for the employees who have special education in technicalities and mechanism of the particular machine. We hear simply can say providing the problem to agency who specialized in solving this kind of issue will make sure that the company will solve the problem and will expend resources in order to have success (Eaton, 2001).

As question is stated that Jack is not capable to provide solution for the expected problem yes marks should give the task to another employee who is much capable of solving the problem. But again the question arises if in the company there is an employee who has much capable then Jack why not that task was given to the other employee in the first place? you are we have to understand that mark as ahead of the department knows his employees and according to that, he stated that the solution is expected only from Jack. But solution is not found by Jack and it is duty of Mark to ensure that company employees get educated in the special field which deals with technique, technology, and mechanism. If the company employees’ skills are upgraded with providing some specialized course then we can say that these kinds of problems can be solved only not by jack but by all the employees in the company. If project is offered to another Jack will feel that his performance and he feels low self-esteem which is not right for his future reference in the company (prnewswire.com, 2016).
Ajay-1. Communication skill is a vital aspect of project management. If the project manager or team members do not have efficient communication skills, they could not interact with each other and understand the issues or guidelines of project management. Manager with improper communication skill could not instruct the co-workers regarding various objectives and processes of project management (Jena & Satpathy, 2017). Besides, the lack of proper communication can affect resource allocation and knowledge sharing, which would reduce the quality of the project. Thus, Herb, the project manager, could not be able to develop proficient solutions and strategies to accomplish the deliverables and objectives within the time constraint due to efficient and irregular communication.
2. No, according to the case study, Herb is not the correct individual for the project manager’s role. Even though he had good knowledge and experience of research and development, he was not exposed to project management difficulties. He also did not attend any project meeting or developed sophisticated and effective solutions for project management (Kerzner, 2017). Therefore scheduling the tasks and defining the strategies for accomplishing the project goals was a very difficult task for him. Herb could be assigned as manager of the manufacturing department of R&D division, as he was subject matter expert in engineering and manufacturing.
3. Alice was not given a recommendation letter from Herb, which could help her to decode the issues precisely. Besides, Bob has a communication issue in term of encoding. Bob wanted to establish the communication chain with engineers through him and in a documented manner. However, Herb did not follow it. Herb did not communicate with Betty to offer feedback regarding cost procurement, which could improve the strategy and decisions (Jena & Satpathy, 2017). Further, Frank also faced a communication issue with Herb. None of these members was given documented email or instructions, which can help to determine the challenges in project processes and develop a reliable solutio
Ravi – How important are communication skills in project management?
In the process of project management, communication skills play a vital role. Effective communication is dependent on the verbal and non-verbal language used among the project team while working towards achieving the set goals and objectives (Leli, 2019). Good communication skills ensure the delivering of relevant information by the project manager in an efficient way to the members. In turn, the members respond to the information by applying it to their respective allocated tasks (Bridget, 2016). More so, effective communication skills ensure information is given out in a way which is precise and concise hence saving time. The manner in which information is received, presented and interpreted depends on the communication skills of the project manager. Therefore, communication skills are very important in project management.
Was Herb the right person to be assigned as the project manager?
No he was not the right person to be given the task due to the fact that he had not taken any project management course. Hence, Herb had no idea on which concepts and methods were required to be applied in managing the project. Additionally, the level of professionalism was much more important than the experience in research and development. The case clearly indicates that Herb had no experience in project management rather; he had some experience in research and development. Therefore, it is evident that the project would not be handled by a professional hence lacking some crucial concepts necessary for project management. Furthermore, in the previous project teams Herb had not been involved.
There were communication issues with Alice, Bob, Betty, and Frank. For each, communication issue, where was the breakdown in communications: encoding, decoding, feedback, and so on?
To start with Alice had issues in communication since she kept to herself some of the conversations they had with Herb. Also, she was in need of a promotion at work but she could not talk about it to Herb in a straight forward way. Instead of solving the problems they had with Herb after the miscommunication, Alice walked out of the office. Consequently, when communicating with Bob, Herb was not precise in fact he presented information in an inconsistent way where it was hard for Bob to understand. Betty and Frank had this communication problem of not giving Bob the chance to give a response on the information presented. Anytime Bob made an attempt to respond to the information presented Betty and Frank would rudely interrupt him. As a result, Bob began to shy away from presenting his ideas in response to the issue. In order for project management to be effective, Bob should understand what the project team really wants and act accordingly.
