- Choose one character from one of the stories and analyze the character. As a critical reader, how do you describe and interpret this character? What is the character’s importance to the story? Be sure to support your analysis with specific examples from the story.
- Choose one theme from one of the stories and discuss how it is developed/portrayed in the story. Be sure to support your analysis with specific examples from the story.
- You may choose your own focus on one of the stories but you MUST CLEAR THE TOPIC WITH ME FIRST.
Once you choose your topic, you will need to:

a. introduce the topic, the short story, the author;
b. Write a clear and confident thesis sentence where you state your position on the topic.
2. In the body of the paper include:
a. a brief overview (summary) of the story;
b. at least 3-4 main points of discussion that support your thesis sentence; 1 body paragraph for each point of discussion;
c. at least 3 short quotations from story and cited using MLA
format
3. Conclusion paragraph
a. leave your reader with something to think about beyond the
paper.
4. Works Cited page (cite your short story)
A NOTE ABOUT QUOTATIONS AND CITATIONS: In this paper, you will need to include at least 3 direct quotations from and/or your chosen outside sources. Each quotation must be introduced, cited, punctuated, and attributed using Modern Language Association (MLA) format. I have a ZERO tolerance policy for academic dishonesty and plagiarism. Remember to include a Works Cited page.
