Demonstrate knowledge of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics and AOTA Standards of Practice and use them as a guide for ethical decision-making in professional interactions, client interventions, employment settings, and when confronted with personal and organizational ethical conflicts.
Directions:
1) Refer to the AOTA Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics (2020) to refresh your understanding of the Core Values and Principles of our profession. As instructed below, identify each of the core values and principles and provide a brief description of the professional behavior that is expected in support of the respective value or principle (1-2 sentences per value and per principle) in your own words.
2) Choose one of the ethical scenarios below for this assignment. Upon reading the AOTA Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics (2020), provide a brief response (only 1-2 informative sentences per question) to Questions 1-8 below. Be sure to cite the OT Code of Ethics within each of your responses, including the page number even if you are not quoting information.
