You have been tasked with assembling a team of resources from the following groups:
- Human Resources
- Accounting
- Sales
- Marketing
- Technology
- Executive
- Facilities Support
- Security
There will be one person from each section of the above group who will work with the project manager to determine the overall team size. The team will implement a fully deployable employee training program for an outside sales organization. The executive team expects the project to be up and running within one year and be representative of all departments. The organization is putting YOU, the Project Manager in charge of working with the heads of each department and stakeholders within the organization to obtain the needed resources.
NOTE: This project is going to take a LOT of imagination, critical thinking, and analysis, but will NOT be graded on exact steps. You will be graded on your ability to assemble the project team, plan it out in a logical process, use critical thinking, make sound decisions, utilize and follow key concepts you learn in this course, as well as prepare a professional product – as it would be presented in reality. You will need to use imagination, creativity, and make some assumptions about the project since some details and steps you need may not be provided to you. This project is about understanding concepts and how much understanding of project management fundamentals the student has learned during their readings and within the class discussions.
These papers will also be graded on readability and organization. Remember, you are delivering these documents to the executive staff regarding the steps along the project life cycle.
- Can the student explain the concepts of the project using the terms identified in the book?
- Can the student use critical thinking skills to put the project together conceptually?
- Can the student use external sources to help support their opinions?
- Can the student prepare a professional document that is suitable for a presentation to upper management?
