reflecting on skills for success
[ad_1]
hello there, I need help working on this assignment . below, there is a prompt of what the professor wants.
Reflecting on Skills for Success
Do You Have What It Takes?
Some people make it through college and others donâ€t. This is a simple fact of higher education. A high graduation rate is the goal of any university, so universities have funded in-depth studies to unearth the reasons why some students persist in college and others do not.
What might surprise you is that the main reason is not that students are incapable of learning new content. Certainly, this happens, but the main reason that the vast majority of students donâ€t get their degree is that life gets in the way.
National University is a university focused on working adults. Most of us in this class have jobs, families, and possibly children. It is not easy to juggle all these things, and often determination is the key factor in pressing through.
Many students, however, make things much harder on themselves than is needed because they haven’t explored all the resources provided by the university. They don’t know how to ask for help, and they don’t know who to ask for help in those moments when life gets in the way.
Part 1: Test Your Skills!
In this assignment we are going to ask you to complete a brief Quiz that measures non-academic factors in student success, such as commitments, social support, and determination.
FIRST: WATCH THE VIDEO
Watch the following video: https://www.ted.com/talks/angela_lee_duckworth_grit_the_power_of_passion_and_perseverance?language=en
After watching the video, refer to it in your Reflection, stating how it does/does not apply to you, what you gained from it and how it changed your approach to taking the Quiz. There will be points awarded for write-up that references the video.
NEXT: THE INTERACTIVE QUIZ: FIXED VS. GROWTH MINDSETS
The quiz is short. It should take you less than 10 minutes. There are no right and wrong answers. The challenge of the quiz is to answer how you honestly feel.
Click on the link and take the Carol Dweck Quiz here:

The quiz is designed to provide tips that help you. When you are finished with the quiz, it will provide you with the result. Read it and reflect on it. Please use any of the following means to capture the result and save to your computer for later uploading:
- take a screenshot with your computer
- take a picture with your phone or any other camera
- Save the image as: .jpeg, .doc, .docx or .pdf
Upload your result to this assignment to receive five points. The results of the quiz do not matter. You will simply receive five points for completing the quiz and posting the document.
Part 2: Reflect on Your Results
When you are finished taking the quiz, please reflect in 300 words (minimum) on the results. You may reflect on anything that comes to your mind, but if you need some prompting, consider some of the following questions. (You do not need to answer them all).
- Comment on your response to the video.
- With regards to the quiz: Do your results surprise you?
- Do you feel like you answered the questions honestly, or did you at times put in the answer that is the ideal you?
- Based on your results, is there an area where you would like some additional guidance or support?
This initial reflection will only be shared with your instructor. After you have completed uploading both 1) the results and 2) your reflection, please go to the discussion forum where you will discuss and create an action plan with your classmates
