A reaction paper is a 3+ paragraph essay of your thought’s feelings and interpretations of what you read. Yes… I want to get into your head… more importantly… I want you to get into your head! I want you to start developing feelings, opinions and TRUTHS about the field of TR. How do I expect you to do that? Within a minimal of 3 paragraphs I want you to respond to what you read? How did it make you feel? More importantly, WHAT did it make you feel? Once you identified that then I need you to explain to me “What does that mean?â€
So… This is what I Expect.
Paragraph 1
The first sentence should mention the title and who/ or where the article is from. Summarize the article in 4-6 sentences.
Paragraph 2
Identify what you liked about the article or disliked (whatever the case may be). Share about 6-8 sentences as to your opinions and if you have anything to back it up this is where you should do it. Not just WHAT is your opinion… but WHY? This is sometimes necessary to do in another paragraph (or 2). Please be sure to make a few references to the article so I know you read it and understand it!
Last Paragraph
Summarize your first 2 paragraphs about the article in a sentence or 2… Summarize your thoughts and opinions in 2-3 sentences. Somewhere in the beginning or in the middle it is OK TO SAY…. In conclusion; (or something similar.) so I can see that you are wrapping up your reaction.
This is worth 10 Points each. I will only accept it 24 hours late (IN ANEMERGENCY) 1 TIME.
It’s an EASY 10 points… partially because I can’t give you a bad grade for your opinion… but most students lose points by not doing it… or turning it in late! It should be double spaced, full margins… fill the page from the top … to the bottom. 10 Articles + 10 Discussion Board Questions = 100 points total. It’s an easy way to BOOST your overall grade.
Anytime You are asked for a reaction Paper PLEASE FOLLOW THIS FORMAT. My feeling is that you can spend 10 Minutes reading it… 10 minutes thinking about what it said and what it meant. Take 10 Minutes to type it up… and then re-read it once to tweak it up. It could be fun… so don’t make it a chore… We will have a class discussion about it during the next class.
