But that doesnt work as an empirical claim, the criticism goes; it is actually a self-sealing, definitional claim, because the psychological egoist cannot tell what would count against. Is that a legitimate criticism? Could a psychological egoistgive an example of what selfless behaviour would be like?

On your view, might the former attack be justified while the latter is wrong? Or must they be considered morally equal, because both invovle the killing on innocents?
