Epidemiologic methods are used to evaluate Healthy People
Epidemiologic methods are used to evaluate the Healthy People 2020 objectives, which are science-based 10-year national goals for improving the health of all Americans. Discussion post In order to: o Encourage collaborations across communities and sectors, Healthy People has established benchmarks and tracked progress over the course of three decades.
In order to make informed health decisions, individuals must be empowered.
o Evaluate the effectiveness of prevention initiatives.
For instance, vaccination programs and requirements for child care, school, and college attendance are just a few examples. Having vaccination requirements for child care, school, and college attendance is the primary goal/purpose of the study, with the secondary goal/purpose being to increase vaccination rates and decrease rates of vaccine-preventable disease.
The analytic study design was used in this article because it is a type of hypothesis testing that is used to investigate the relationship between exposure and disease. Without vaccination, children are more susceptible to infections and other diseases than they would otherwise be.
Case Control Studies are included in Analytical Study Designs because they are intended to sample a group of people who have and do not have a specific disease. These case control studies have a number of advantages, including the fact that they are quick, require a small sample size, and are inexpensive. These studies are used to investigate rare diseases and situations in which people have been exposed to a large number of different substances. This type of design study can also have its drawbacks, such as the fact that it cannot measure incidence. Only one disease can be examined, not many, and measuring rare exposures is difficult due to the limitations of the technology. Design bias is frequently observed as a result of retrospect (Schmidt, N., & Brown, J., 2019).

The epidemiologic method is used by the healthy people of the 2020 objectives in order to gather statistics and facts about a specific problem. Heart disease and stroke, for example, are two of the most serious health concerns in the United States. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, and stroke is the fifth most common cause of death in the country. Prevention and treatment of heart disease and stroke, as well as improvement of overall cardiovascular health, are the focus of Healthy People 2030. (Health, 2019). Improvements in cardiovascular health and a reduction in deaths from heart disease and stroke are the primary objectives. Technology is the design type that is being used to conduct analytic research into these facts. They have access to more records, which allows them to gather more information, which allows their statistics to be more accurate, which is a benefit. More nimble and near real-time epidemiologic investigations in larger populations are made possible by electronic health record-based approaches, and EHR data are particularly well suited for secondary analyses (Mayo,2019).
Heart disease and stroke are two examples of this. Heart Disease and Stroke – Healthy People 2030 (Heart Disease and Stroke) (n.d.). Heart disease and stroke statistics were obtained on December 1, 2021, from https://health.gov/healthypeople/objectives-and-data/browse-objectives/heart-disease-and-stroke.
