Journal :Thinking back and ahead
Consider the major topic areas in the course and choose two from the following list to address in your journal.
- oppression based on race or ethnicity
- implicit bias/microaggressions
- social determinants of health
- language barriers
- CLAS standards
- health literacy
Briefly describe a situation you have observed or have been directly involved in, for each of the two chosen topics. Reflect upon how the situation could have been better handled to promote a healthier outcome. Discuss some of the principles you learned about that topic to relate to how they could have made a difference. Identify a strategy that could help either you or those involved in the situation to integrate the necessary steps to be more culturally competent.
The journal should be 1 page in length and will be graded using the Self-Reflection Journal Rubric found in the Syllabus.
