Communicate in a clear and structured mannerThe THEM ProjectIn Term 1 you will prepare a project plan and proposal for a research project to beundertaken in Term 2. The project is an excellent opportunity to focus on an aspect of yourchosen field that you are particularly interested in.The Project is individual and based on a research question chosen by you (and agreed byone of your lecturers) focusing on an aspect relating to your degree programme within theTHEM area. It is a 5000 word investigation into an issue in an organisation/industry (worth90% of the module mark) and a 1000 word reflection on skills developed in undertaking theproject (worth 10% of the module mark). The project should have a strategic element (forexample solving a problem or critically investigating a management issue) and it may bebased on secondary and/or primary research. Your work can be presented as a dissertationa report or a consultancy project and it is important that you showcase critical ability inyour work. The project can be structured in various ways but usually it involves thefollowing sections: abstract table of contents introduction literature review methodologyfindings and analysis conclusion and references.You will be provided support on undertaking the project in Term 1 and 2. This will includeguidance on how to frame a research topic developing a research question and objectivescompleting a literature review and research design and analysis.The Business Professional3Suggested Project StructureFor an individual project based on a question of your choice (and agreed by one of yourlecturers) you should ideally follow the structure below. In this section you will frame your research topic. Youwill set out the main reasons why your chosen topic is worth researching and what youhope to achieve. Here you will present your keyfindings. It is important that these are well substantiated and presented in a sensible orderand that key results or issues are clear. If your approach is quantitative you may include graphs charts andtables to support your argument (each graph chart and table must be numbered and clearlytitled).
