- What type of degree and background experience are professionals in your field expected to have?
- What are the legal requirements, examinations, or certifications, if any, expected for entry into or advancement in your chosen profession?
- If your profession requires a graduate degree, what studies are expected in the undergraduate degree to prepare for graduate work in the profession? What kind of undergraduate degree do you need (e.g., psychology, human services, any type of concentration)?
- If you plan to remain in your current workplace, how has your workplace changed in the last five years? How is the field expected to develop in the future? What knowledge and skills will you need to stay current?
- What courses seem to offer the most preparation for advancement in the field, given the field’s proposed future direction?
You should write approximately 1/2 page (minimum) to 2 pages (maximum) on professional expectations. The length of this section is not as important as type and specificity of information. Again, you need to help outside readers (especially the Academic Review Committee) understand the results of your research and how you’ve applied your research to help choose courses that address professional expectations for your type of degree.
