I want to save this Customer object which is a type of ChildCustomer in database. How can i do that? It is asked in this post.On the second question here, i am getting a conflict error while creating database. As i am using a virtual keyword in my base class, is this causing problems?

You cannot do this directly using entity framework.But, you can use Migrator to do this. The algorithm will work as follows,
Entity Framework will see that Customer is a base type and not applicable for migration.When you call Database.Create() method with base type Customer it will not be able to detect and create tables for that type.Entity framework will check for ID property of Customer and if it is there it will add a table called CustomerID. So this means, the table is added using a derived table.You need to move your original ChildCustomer and Customer object in your base class i.e. Customer.
