Assignment Instructions
A Literature Review Paper, a minimum of 12 pages in length, not including the title page, abstract, or Reference pages, is required for this course. It will focus on a topic of each student’s choice directly related to the course and pre-approved by the course instructor. This assignment requires reviews, summaries and critiques of 6 to 8 scholarly peer-reviewed articles from the APUS Online Library, and will include discussions of how the articles are interrelated and what additional research is needed in the future to expand the body of knowledge published on the student-selected topic
The relating of articles in this paper must be done via transition statements between article summaries for articles that have content in common, such that the paper interweaves all the articles into a coherent and well-articulated review of scholarly publications related to the paper topic focus. For example, after one article summary, the statement, “Related research conducted by Smith (2012) showed that…” might used as a means of connecting it to another article summary. The paper will end with a minimum of two paragraphs summarizing points made and articulating suggestions for future research directions arising from the article reviews.
Selected articles must have been submitted for approval in the form of the Annotated Bibliography assignment due by the end of Week 5 of the course term. Instructions for formatting the Annotated Bibliography are located on the Assignments page. Articles selected for course assignments other than the Annotated Bibliography (e.g. for the Forums) cannot be used in it or in the completion of the Literature Review Paper.
