In this assignment, you will learn about theories in group work and conceptualize a brief group counseling interaction from two different theoretical orientations—one being cognitive–behavioral and the other from a perspective that you choose. You will also begin to understand how you interact as a group leader and what principles guide your interventions. The purpose of this assignment is to understand group theory in practice and develop your identity as a group leader.
Tasks:
- Revisit the Yalom outpatient group video and review the case of a group counseling interaction.
- In about 300 words, discuss the case from two different theoretical orientations—one being cognitive–behavioral and the other from a theoretical orientation of your choice. For each orientation, post your responses to the following:

- Identify the manner in which you might respond as the group leader to the clients utilizing this orientation.
- Analyze the reactions or responses you expect from the clients based on your interventions.
