For this week’s discussion you will need to visit Visit the following website, Election of 1932: Changing the GuardLinks to an external site.
You will need to read the essay on the Presidential Election of 1932, and should click on some of the links within the essay to learn more about the candidates and the issues.
Then write your initial discussion board post in the form of a campaign speech advocating either Republican Herbert Hoover or Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt. Be sure to discuss 1) why your chosen candidates’ policies are the best ones, 2) why your candidates’ personal qualities and experience will make him an effective president, and 3) why his opponents’ policies are undesirable. (There are no right or wrong choices here, just arguments made more or less effectively! Just remember that you are writing from the perspective of someone in 1932 and cannot predict the future with what is going to happen.)
After creating your initial post, you need to respond to at least two of your classmates’ in which you compare/contrast your chosen candidate for president with the person they selected being sure to incorporate specific information from the assigned website to support your ideas.
