For this assignment you will need to compare the three main Sociological Perspectives (Structural Functionalist, Social Conflict Theory, and Symbolic Interactionist) and summarize some of the main ideas of one of the main theorists (Emile Durkheim, Max Weber, and Karl Marx).  I have provided these three individuals as they will be the ones we talk about most often throughout the semester.  You may also choose another individual as long as the majority of their work was centered around Sociology.

Once you have chosen your theorist you will need to do some research. I would like additional information that is not listed in the lecture notes or the textbook. This is you chance to add to your knowledge of the information and provide you with a foundation for the rest of the class.

References and citations required for outside information needs to follow APA formatting.

You will need to use at least 2 other sources of information other than the textbook.

1 page (300 Words) for the theory portion and 1 page (300 Words) for the theorist portion – 2 pages minimum with a combined 600-650 word minimum requirement.  Please make sure to bold or highlight the chosen theorist, each theory, and each citation (this makes it easier for me to find).  It is easiest to create the document in Word and then copy and paste it into the text box.

Please make sure to keep a copy of you submission by first creating the document in your favorite piece of software; for example, Word, Google Docs, Pages, etc.  To submit the essay you will need to copy and paste the text into the textbox provided in Canvas.  Please do not copy links to Google Docs or links to files.  By copying the text into the Canvas textbox, it will be formatted correctly and allow me grade in a more efficient manner.  You will also need to include the number of words your document.  If I cannot open your document you will receive a 0 for the assignment.
