You are all taking this class for different reasons, with plans to work with adults in different capacities. For this final project, pretend you are giving a 1-day seminar or presentation to a group of adult learners on the topic of your choice. Try to envision the purpose of your event, the audience, the size of the group, their level of knowledge, and aspects of the topic that would be important for them to know.
In this final culminating project, integrate all the aspects of learning from this course as you develop your event. In the project, please introduce the event to the reader and describe the agenda for the day so that we can better understand what you are planning. Will it be a large group of staff in a corporate environment that know each other, a small group of teachers from across the county, or the first day of community college class? We don’t need to know every aspect of the topic – rather we are interested in the methods you select to present the topic to your adult learners. Then, be sure to describe how you would include the following aspects of our course in your 1-day presentation:
- Describe how will you utilize Wlodkowski’s Integrated Levels of Adult Motivation.
- How will you create an environment that encourages the adult learners to think critically?
- How will you create an environment that encourages the adult learners to voice their assumptions without feeling anxious?
- In what ways will you Teach Around the Circle? Give 4 examples of activities you might provide to encourage an exchange of ideas.
- Will you include digital media? If so, how will you select something that supports adult learning?
- How will you incorporate time for your adult learners to reflect on the important points of your presentation?
- How will you collect their feedback in a way that encourages reflection? (Are you giving the audience feedback on their learning, or do you want the audience to provide you feedback as the presenter?)
Your final project should use APA style, and include at least 5-7 resources.
