SIGNATURE ASSIGNMENT – Final Practicum Case Presentation (300 pts.) – This case presentation is the final cumulative learning assessment for this course. The instructor will provide a schedule for when students will present. The presentations to be staggered between Modules 5 and 10.
Note that this final practicum case presentation is structured in a modified manner similar to the Clinical Application Examination (CAE) in order to offer guided practice in preparation for the actual CAE. As a reminder, the CAE is written during HSC581 Counseling Internship I, and the oral examination transpires in the HSC582 Counseling Internship II.
Directions for Practicum Case Presentation:
- Based on the recordings submitted, students will complete a biopsychosocial in powerpoint format and oral presentation which will include integration of the following:
- Diagnostic, developmental, socio-cultural, interpersonal, neurobiological, treatment planning and theoretical concepts in the student’s understanding of the client’s issues.
The student will present the powerpoint in an oral presentation to the class during the webinar including a 5-7 minute clip from one of the recordings.
Please note the following:
- Please submit the Attestation Form, final clinical case presentation powerpoint, recording, and self-critique form to the instructor via Dropbox in the course shell a full day (24 hours) prior to the start of class
- Recordings must be of a good enough quality to be heard and understood—inaudible tapes will not be accepted.
- You are highly encouraged to share recordings of sessions where you need help, guidance, or support with your supervisor and seminar leader. Do not be afraid of showing your need for help!
Note: All identifying information should be excluded from the summary and presentation! You must maintain your client’s confidentiality. You must present on the day you are scheduled, so plan accordingly.
