- Specify your IV(s) and DV.
- Specify whether each variable is categorical or continuous.
- Specify the statistical analysis you plan to use.

Assignment #12: Method Draft
For this assignment, you will need to write about 2-page Method section.
An example of a final project (including Method) is posted on Bb in the Resources folder (Final Project): “PSYC321_Final Project_Example”. Note that your Method is a “Proposed Method” since this is a hypothetical study (keep it in the future tense).
The Method section tells the reader exactly how the study was conducted. You will be describing your Participants, Design, Procedure, Analyses in four separate subsections of the Method section (each of these subsection headings is boldfaced).
- Participants: Tell the reader who would participate in your study. Provide the overall number of participants, how the participants will be recruited, and other general demographics (age, sex, year in school, etc.). Outline the recruitment and reimbursement procedures.
- Design: Describe the design of your study – correlational or experimental (between-subjects or within-subjects). Mention your IVs and DVs, operationalize each of them. For example, what questionnaire was used to measure your IV(s) and DV? Provide the name of a standardized questionnaire, cite previous research that created it or used it, and provide the possible range of scores.
- Procedure: Describe all the materials necessary to conduct the study (any questionnaires, surveys, or other testing materials). Give a complete account of how the study would be conducted. Under what conditions participants would be tested? Individually or in groups? For how long? Your goal is to provide enough information so that another researcher could replicate your study.
- Analyses: Describe how you would analyze the data – specify the name of your statistical analysis (e.g., Pearson correlation, t-test, one-way ANOVA, or two-way ANOVA). Make sure your analysis is appropriate for the type of study (e.g., correlational, between-subjects, within-subjects experiment) and the type of variables (e.g., categorical, continuous) you have.
Rubrics:
- Participants (5 points): all above-mentioned components are present.
- Design (10 points): all above-mentioned components are present.
- Procedure (10 points): all above-mentioned components are present.
- Analyses (5 points): all above-mentioned components are present.
- Writing style (5 points): the draft is well-written, concise, without awkward phrasing.
- APA format (5 points): the draft conforms to APA style.
- Total: 40 points.
