The EDU 1700 final paper is comprised of three parts: the introduction, Philosophy Statement,
and the conclusion. The Philosophy Statement is a concise philosophy of teaching you can use
throughout your time at The University of Toledo, and revise for use when seeking employment.
Suggestion: Before you start, read My Pedagogic Creed by John Dewey. This is what a
philosophy of education is like, though you are not required to write that long.

General Guidelines and Requirements EDU 1700 Teaching Philosophy Assignment
Length of paper, including reference and cover pages should be a minimum of 6 pages.
Your paper should be in paragraph format, Times New Roman font, and double-spaced.
Organize your paper using headings in APA 7 th . Edition format. For example, use first
level headings for the introduction, Philosophy Statement, and the conclusion. You may
also choose to further divide your paper using headings, but it is not required.
You are required to use at least 5 references using APA 7 th . Edition in-text citation and
reference list style. Two references may be from the text and the other three may come
from scholarly articles or reputable websites (not Wikipedia) with relevant content.
Introduction
Write a one-paragraph introduction to describe what you will be discussing within your paper.
Your paragraph is at least five sentences! You must end your introduction with a focused thesis
statement in which you specify your philosophy of education in a one-sentence statement.
