Scenario: You have just been given a tremendous opportunity to assume the management of a group of 25 people. Leadership has a lot of confidence in you, and they are looking forward to your first 90 days in the new role.
The leadership is very happy with the direction you are taking with the new team. Now, the time has come to put together your detailed plans for your new team. In this last portion, you will construct a summary paper of your plan, covering the following information:
- How will you structure your team?
- What roles will people play if specific to tasks?
- How will you promote teamwork and ensure group effectiveness?
- With the current conflicts, what is your plan to resolve?
- What training should the team go through?
- What reward systems will you put into place?
- What communication methods should be implemented and how will you implement them?
- As you are looking at the process on the next page, what plans do you have to refine this process to improve quality and output? Use the figure 16.2, p. 530 in your textbook to develop your suggestions and plan.
- What support will you need to be successful? (i.e., technology, human resources, etc.)?
- How will you maintain a positive culture?
- Reflection: With all that you have learned about organizations and leadership, what element do you feel has helped you the most to deal with this situation and why?
