- Findings and discussion (approx. 700 words)
- Remember – it is acceptable to present the qualitative findings within the discussion subheading, hence why we see ‘Findings and Discussion’ in most qualitative outputs. We know that this is not generally accepted in quantitative research but for qualitative this is acceptable in order to contextualise and bring the ‘data to life’ as it were.
- In this section I recommend the use of subheadings that reflect the themes you develop – you can be as creative as you wish for this. I would recommend that you pick either two or three subheadings for discussion.
- You must remember to use references and other literature to build your discussion – it is not acceptable to simply present the data into blocks verbatim text and hope that it will suffice. See examples of other qualitative articles and how they have undertaken this.
- Conclusion Section (approx. 150 words)
- What are your conclusions to the data, what are the main themes that have stood out to you? This section is essentially a summary of what you have found and how unique it is.
- Recommendations (approx. 100 words)
- As this is qualitative and cannot be fully generalised per se, what other recommendations can you make? Are there further tools needed in order to enhance student feedback for example and/or further research that could help uncover this work.
- Limitations (approx. 50 words)
- Here you can be critical of the methodology, i.e. the approach, sample size, generalisability.
- References
- Remember to provide a reference list for your assignment – this is always essential in academic work.
