Final Paper: Literature Review of a Nursing Clinical Question – NSG 3352

The purpose of this assignment is to integrate the research process, starting with a clinical nursing question (PIO or PICO format), database literature search, and the analysis of six (6) related original research studies. It should also include one or more additional articles that support the significance or background of the question. The student should make recommendations based on the strength of the current evidence and describe the nurse’s role in implementing the recommendations. The body of the paper should be at least four (4) full pages plus a cover page and references. It should address the questions in the rubric below and meet all guidelines for a professionally written paper. This paper is to be written in APA 7th edition format.

The student must achieve at least an 80% on the final paper for this course. Part of the assignment is to obtain editorial feedback and incorporate that into the final paper. Students who do not achieve at least 80% on their final paper may submit a revised paper, within the course calendar guidelines, for a 5 point deduction.

The draft paper and editorial feedback are due at least one week prior to the final paper due date.

To ensure the draft paper and editorial feedback are submitted on time, the student should plan to submit the draft paper for feedback from the SmartThinking Writing Lab at least 3 days prior to the draft/editorial feedback due date. The SmartThinking Writing Lab editors will submit feedback related to grammar, spelling, and APA format. There is also an option for a Nursing reviewer to review for content. Both are recommended if the student has planned for sufficient time.

Students who choose to seek editorial feedback from a faculty member or the campus Writing Lab instead of SmartThinking Writing Lab must request assistance at least two weeks before the due date for the draft and present the draft to the faculty/campus Writing Lab per their timetable, but no later than the due date for the draft.

The final paper is submitted on Canvas through Turnitin for evaluation of plagiarism. To obtain an acceptable (green) Turnitin score, the student should write the paper in her/his own words. The student should avoid quotations whenever possible and use quotation marks and appropriate citation when necessary. Students should keep all notes, articles, outlines, and drafts. Note that evidence of plagiarism violates the South College Academic Honor Code.
