Imagine that Jenny and Laura, 25 year-old identical twins who grew up in the same household (i.e., they share both nature and nurture), are on their way to a restaurant to celebrate a friend’s job promotion. They get in a taxi and are seated in the back. Five minutes into the drive, they are involved in a car accident and hit a car in front of them. (No major injuries occurred.) Both Jenny and Laura are physically fine, yet only Laura develops post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) following the accident and refuses to get into another car since the accident.
