Reflective Learning Journal: Comparing Hospital Data
Using the Medicare website locate a hospital in your area. which is Staten Island NY.
Review the website of your hospital of choice and analyze the data under the tabs listed such as survey of patients’ experiences, timely & effective care, complications & deaths, unplanned hospital visits, payment & value of care. In about 600 words or two pages double spaced, describe the data that stood out to you in either a positive or negative way. After reviewing the data, describe why you would or would not feel comfortable seeking care at the selected institution or referring a family member to the institution you reviewed.
Tips for Reflective Learning Journal
The reflective journal assignments are intended to help you integrate new knowledge with your existing knowledge and experiences. Completing journal assignments provides you an opportunity to reflect so that you may clearly describe your learning and articulate how it might be applied. A suggested length for the assignment is included in the instructions. You might find it helpful to write as much as you wish to fully answer the questions, take a day or two to reflect on what you wrote, then consider what is important about that reflection and edit for the final submission. This process can help you to identify what was relevant to you. You are expected to use correct grammar, spelling and composition. If you use sources in your writing, you must properly cite and reference.
